Comments/Trivia
  • Licensed by Hasbro and produced by Integrity Toys.
  • Rio, Classic Jem, Jerrica Benton and Synergy were available to pre-order through Integrity dealers on October 5, 2012. Many stores sold out that evening. It would be up to individual dealers to have dolls literally on their shelves, rather than being available solely through the internet.
  • Rio, Classic Jem, Jerrica Benton and Synergy were/are also sold in large Canadian cities at Holt Renfrew, a high end department store, before any of the pre-orders shipped.
  • Rio and Classic Jem sold out very quickly.
  • Limited Edition of 850 dolls.

12 inch (30.5 cm) Articulated fashion doll: Caucasian doll (slightly tanner skintone than Jem), purple mullet hairstyle with black lowlights throughout, blue eyes. His hair is side parted and curled up slightly in the back.
  • His face is a unique sculpt, marked © 2012 IT on the back of the head. It is meant to amalgamate the look of the vintage box art with the style of the cartoon.
  • The same mold was used for Glitter 'n Gold Rio - the latter having more prominent eyeliner, less pink lips and lighter eyebrows, as well as side-glancing eyes.

He has an articulated body that can hold many poses. He originally came with plastic bands taped around his knees, under his pants. He comes with two pairs of hands. (Back view with markings © 2006 JWU BY IT.) Judging by the date, his body probably wasn't designed specifically for the Jem collection.

These are the ones he was packaged with.

The second pair are in different positions. They came in his box in a little baggie in a tray behind the pink cardboard "door" with his name on it beside him in his box. Note, the body and hands are all the same skintone! My camera's white balance went a little wonky.
outfit Made up of pieces itemized below.

Jacket: beige faux leather jacket (very light material, quite supple!) with ribbed waist, cuffs and collar; has working zippers on front as well as upper arm pocket. Pockets with flaps in front open; they have buttons but they are only decorative. It is lined with a slightly darker beige satin material, has the Integrity Jem tag sewn in.

T-shirt: Orangey red stretchy cotton t-shirt with three hook and eye closures in back, has the Integrity Jem tag sewn in.
Belt: Beige textured leatherette with silver buckle.
Pants: Satiny dark beige pleated pants, belt loops, hook and eye closure with a working zipper fly, has functional side and back pockets, has the Integrity Jem tag sewn in.

No socks, no undies! He is displayed in the box barefoot.
accessories Made up of pieces itemized below. These were placed in a clear plastic tray concealed behind the pink cardboard name door/wall that he is displayed beside in the box, not visible until the package is opened completely.

Backstage pass lanyard: plain white thin cord with a laminated backstage VIP pass for Rio. Both sides are shown here, there aren't two!
  • Sharp eyed fans may notice a similarity between this pass and the one available in the Jem mail in fan club pack (back) from 1986!

faux leather duffel with Jem logo. The zippers really work! Inside is crumpled white paper to help keep it's shape. It's the main part of a three-part package in the accessory tray.

Stage setup plan: Laminated cardboard, approximately 2 inches by 3 inches, folded in half. It is blank on the flip side.

wrist watch. Made of beige pleather, metal buckle, plastic watch face. It is displayed against a piece of black cardboard in a baggie, in his accessory tray.
shoes: a sneaker/loafer hybrid shoe, made of textured pleather, white ribbon laces, rubber outer sole with stripe. Soft pale leatherette soles.
doll stand Made up of pieces itemized below.
stand base: black hollow plastic with the Jem logo printed on the top, licensing information on the underside.

Stand pole: chromed plastic tube with an adjustable metal inner pole.

under arm doll holder, it is noticeably larger than the one for the female dolls.

Box, liner and inserts not noted in Integrity's box contents above.
Box with sleeve: as it came from Holt Renfrew.
Box: Came in a thick cardboard diagonal edged box, sort of a satin finish (not shiny, not matte). It is black with a silver foil shooting star with the name of the doll inside printed in it. The record has embossed grooves on it! These boxes look the same except for the name inside the star.
The back is comprised mostly of a black background and a repetition of the pink music notes/stars/confetti design in pink.
Sleeve: Glossy thin card stock, die cut edges on top.

Once the sleeve is removed, the box cover lifted off to reveal the doll inside. On Holt Renfrew dolls, there is a shallow plastic tray that covers the entire inside. To the right, the doll is tied in with white ribbons, on the left is a "locker" or door with the name of the character printed inside a white star, that opens to reveal the extra accessories! In Rio's case, they are inside a long rectangular clear plastic tray with little cups that hold his watch, shoes, stand parts, etc. His stand base is behind his calves in a separate compartment. Some parts are in plastic baggies or attached to a black piece of cardboard. Behind the inner tray that holds both the doll and "locker" part is where the COA and instructions can be found.
The inside of the top cover is black and has has a bright Jem logo & confetti/music notes design printed on the inside. The inner part of the back of the box is undecorated black. The doll display area is black & pink; so far Rio is the only doll to have this colour.

Certificate of Authenticity: postcard sized. There is no mention of the edition size. This COA has come with all of the dolls so far, except for: Hollywood Jem, The Holograms Stage Essentials, The Misfits Stage EssentialsWho is He Kissing Jem/Jerrica BentonGlitter 'n Gold RioGlitter 'n Gold Jem/Jerrica Benton.
Non-Instrument Instructions: Demonstrate how to put the stand together, hand removal and hair styling tips. It came folded and wrapped in a cellophane baggie with the COA underneath the inner box. So far has come with

Cardboard box/mailer. I don't know if the Holt Renfrew dolls came in these; the few I saw in person did not have it.
